The village Horni Vestonice is set on uphill of the Palava hills. The area is also close to protected park Palava, the natural reservation Vestonicka nadrz water-reservoir and also the natural reservation Devin. The village has been established in 1312 in former castle Devicky. Ruins of the less known third castle on Pavlovske hill - Neuhaus, Novy hrad are close to Horni Vestonice.
